Crafts at Iroquois
A NEW ART &
CRAFT FAIR
IN CONJUNCTION
WITH KENTUCKY MUSIC WEEK
July 29, 30, 31, 2011
In its 36th year of bringing folk
music to Louisville onstage at Iroquois Amphitheater,
Kentucky Music Weekend has a new companion event – Arts and
Crafts at Iroquois. Officially designated Kentucky’s
premiere folk festival, KMW has perpetuated traditional
music and songwriting. Now, local and visiting artisans
join the festivities to exhibit their own tradition of
making hand-crafted things.
One-of-a-kind Jewelry Designs
Turned Wood Clay Art &
Pottery
Beadwork Garden Art
Nature Photography
Homemade Soaps and Scrubs
One-of-a-kind jewelry designs, turned wood,
clay art and pottery, nature photography, beadwork, garden
art and homemade soaps and scrubs are some of the items that
will be for sale in booths set up outside the amphitheater
at the southwest corner of Iroquois Park. With outdoor
entertainment and food to enjoy, festival-goers and craft
enthusiasts can stroll a beautiful, tree-lined walkway to
examine the vendors’ wares and take home something special.
According to fair co-ordinator, Anne MacFie,
the fair is a juried show that will include only merchandise
made or significantly embellished by the vendors
themselves. “We don’t accept manufactured goods or resales
of mass-produced craft items. We want to support the
artisans who create their products and foster appreciation
for the skill and involvement that goes into something
crafted by one pair of hands.”
The fair will open at noon on Friday, July 29
and run to 6 p.m. Saturday’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
and Sunday’s noon to 5 p.m. Iroquois Park is located in
southwest Louisville, on New Cut Road, between the Watterson
Expressway and the Gene Snyder Freeway.
