This year Kentucky Theater Project presents a special weekend edition of KENTUCKY HOMEFRONT, in partnership with Kentucky Music Weekend, on July 25 and 26, at the Iroquois Amphitheater in Louisville’s South End.  Kentucky Homefront brings a wealth of music that Kentucky Music Weekend audiences are sure to enjoy!

KMW founder and director, Nancy Barker, is taking a much needed sabbatical while preparing for a blockbuster KMW in 2009.  Meanwhile, Kentucky Homefront is helping create a strong fiscal foundation for both organizations b y hosting this special fundraiser edition of KMW.

Master guitarist Pat Kirtley anchors the Friday evening concert along with the River City Rounders, Whistlin Rufus, Stephen Humphries, and the Pauly Zarb Band. Folk singer/songwriter Tom Chapin tops the bill Saturday night along with Anne McFie, Cast Iron Airplane, Janne Henshaw, The Lost Boys, and more!

Dare To Care food bank will be collecting non-perishable food items throughout the event.  Collection bins will be located near the entrance gate, just look for the Dare To Care signs.

For the seventh year, KMW will host the Kentucky State Mountain and Hammered Dulcimer Championship contests during KENTUCKY HOMEFRONT’s Saturday daytime events.  The contests will be held from 12:00 noon until about 2:00 PM, with the first place winners receiving either a dulcimer or hammered dulcimer, a trophy, plus entry fees to the Walnut Valley national contests in Winfield, Kansas.  For registration information please visit the KMW web site and search under contest information.

Councilman, Dan Johnson, is a major sponsor again this year, helping with facility costs.  In addition, Louisville Metro Council has approved funding for Kentucky Homefront in the 2009 city budget!

Please note that there will be a $10 admission fee for the festival each night this year.  Daytime events are free.  Proceeds will go to pay artists, and any net revenues will be divided between Kentucky Homefront and KMW.  $10 per night for this lineup is an incredible deal!  Although tickets will be available at the door, you can buy your tickets early through ticket master, and come enjoy the  music, knowing that you are also contributing to Kentucky’s musical heritage.
